Tidewater Analytics, a Port Avalon startup that measures emissions from ships, has raised $40 million in new funding, the company said Thursday.
The company combines harbour sensors with satellite data to estimate how much each vessel emits while it waits at berth. Ports in Europe and Asia are among its customers.
“Regulators are moving from estimates to measurement, and ports need data they can defend,” said co-founder Asha Menon.
