Port Avalon’s free public Wi-Fi now reaches every one of the city’s public housing buildings, about 14,000 households, completing a project that began during the pandemic.

City officials said average speeds are about 200 megabits per second. “Kids are doing homework here instead of in a fast food parking lot,” said housing authority director Marcus Webb.

The city is studying whether to extend the network to libraries and recreation centers.
