Registration for Port Avalon’s girls’ soccer league has doubled in two years, to more than 2,400 players, and the league says it is running out of places to play.

“We have teams practicing in parking lots,” said league director Sofia Petrova. Parents have asked the city to add lights to two public fields so they can be used after dark.
